About Boston Microsoft Business Intelligence User Group

Mission

To facilitate a training and discussion environment for BI Developers, Administrators , IT professionals and Business Analysts focusing on building real-world BI solutions using the Microsoft Business Intelligence Platform tools and technology.

To provide the opportunity for members to share knowledge, practical experience and participate in advanced technological discussions with BI community members.

We have regular face-to-face with HANDS-ON meetings including guest speakers. We located in the GREATER BOSTON area.  We meet  First 3 Tuesday’s of each Month.

This is FREE  Group, Membership is open to all  interested in learning the latest technology and tools in Microsoft Business Intelligence Platform (SSAS, SSRS, SSIS) and languages (MDX, DMX) as well as Client side Data Analysis Applications such as MS SharePoint Server, MS Office EXCEL, VISIO, learn best practices and experience of professionals engaged in designing , architecting and developing:

  • Enterprise Data Warehouses
  • Business Intelligence Systems
  • Business Analysis Systems

Side-by-side with Business Frameworks such as Lean Production, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Balance Score Card, Performance Management and KPI. We are going to focus on real world Production (Oil and Gas Production), E-Commerce and E-Marketing systems. Share the knowledge, resources, network with people who are in MS BI space.

 

Group type

We have both type of groups the User Group and the Study Group.

The BBIUG is dedicated to sharing experience, supporting BI community and promoting cutting edge technology of individuals involved in any aspect of Microsoft Business Intelligence Platform.

It provides a platform to reflect Business Intelligence and Business Analysis issue for all those with shared interests, and to develop networking opportunities.

The BBISG is dedicated to help start using MS BI tools and technology and learn how to Design, Develop and Implement Systems through full BI Project life cycle. Learn Advance technique and best practices. No experience is required for joining the group. You can join the group any time we will help you jump in.

 

Study Process

 We have hands-on seminar type of training. We believe that practical learning is the best way to better understand BI ideas, technique and Subjects around it. Hands-on Agile Development and Domain Driven Design (DDD) type of projects help  to investigate and experiment also think critically and gain confidence in the own ability to solve BI problems through complete project life cycle.

You can bring you laptop plug it in and follow the seminar training or you can just listen and watch and practice later by using hands-on seminars materials.

 

Hands-on materials

BI hands-on materials are designed to meet the developmental needs of members learning how to design and develop BI solution on Microsoft BI Platform. The materials will be published and available for public up on bostonbi.org website after each seminar.

The materials format is tutorial like walkthrough with source code.

 

Hands-On Benefits

A hands-on approach requires group members to become active participants instead of passive learners who listen watch or presentations.
Using tools such as SSAS, SSRS, SSIS and others in hands-on projects also builds the good practical skills that members will need to use for career in BI space.  

 

Because BI as Platform and BI Project Life Cycle includes multiple cross subject technology and tools such as ASP.NET, WPF, C#, BV.NET, jQuery, AJAX, HTML, SQL, Share Point, MS Office, Application Design and Development, System Analysis and Modeling, Business Frameworks, Business Analysis Concepts we are going to design specific to the subject introduction and bring experts to help learn and understand it from BI prospective.
